Struggling to Find a Hairdresser You Love? A Consultation That Changes Everything

At some point in life, every woman looks for a new hairdresser.
Sometimes it’s exciting.Sometimes it’s necessary.And sometimes… it feels a little daunting.
You may be moving suburbs, states, or countries. You may feel like your style has changed. Or you may simply sense that the salon you’ve been visiting no longer reflects who you are now — and that’s a very healthy place to be.
In fact, when we relocate, the first things we tend to look for are a new doctor, dentist… and hairdresser. And if we’re being honest, the hairdresser often feels like the most personal of the three.
Finding the right hair salon isn’t just about a haircut. It’s about alignment.

Finding the right hairdresser can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re new to an area or ready for a change. A personalised hair consultation helps you find a hairdresser and salon that align with your hair type, lifestyle, and personal style — giving you clarity and confidence before booking your next appointment.

Why Finding a New Hairdresser Can Be So Powerful
After more than 33 years in hairdressing, I’ve seen this time and time again:a new stylist can offer fresh eyes, new perspective, and thoughtful suggestions that support who you are today — not who you were five or ten years ago.
But while the idea is exciting, many women also feel apprehensive:
Will they understand my hair texture?
Will they listen?
Will I leave feeling confident… or disappointed?
This is exactly why I created a hair consultation service dedicated to helping women find a salon that truly aligns with them — even when that salon isn’t mine.

How I Became an Expert in Salon Alignment
What makes this consultation unique is how deeply I understand hair salons — from the guest’s perspective.
Throughout my career, whenever I was due for a haircut or colour, I intentionally booked into different salons. And here’s the important part:
I never told them I was a hairdresser.
I arrived as any other salon guest would — observing everything:
how I was welcomed
how questions were asked
how consultation was handled
how the service flowed
how I was finished… and farewelled
I have genuinely lost count of how many salons I’ve experienced this way.
These visits shaped me into the consultation specialist I am today. I learned what truly matters to women — not just technically, but emotionally — when they sit in a salon chair feeling hopeful, excited, and often a little vulnerable.
To this day, I’ve yet to meet someone who goes as deeply into what really creates a great salon experience.

A Consultation Designed to Help You Find Your Salon
I offer a carefully curated consultation that allows me to guide you toward up to three hair salons that align with:
your hair type and texture
your lifestyle
your styling ability
your values
and what you personally want from a salon experience
This service works anywhere in the world.
So far, I’ve helped women find salons in:Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, New York, and the UK — as well as across Australia.
I’ve also guided many of my own salon guests toward other stylists when what they were looking for didn’t align with the services I offer. And honestly, this is one of the most fulfilling parts of my work.
It’s not about looking after everyone. It’s about helping women feel supported, confident, and understood.

A Recent Real-Life Example
One of my long-term guests recently moved to a small town in Germany.
Even I was surprised by how many salons were available — and even more so by how suitable several of them were for her hair type and needs.
Because I already knew her hair, texture, challenges, and styling ability, I was able to narrow the options down to:
a first choice
second choice
and third choice
We then used a process I share in my book, LOVE YOUR HAIR, to decide the best next step.
I always encourage guests to physically visit a salon first — not to book, but to feel it.

The Power of First Impressions in a Hair Salon
Here’s one of my biggest tips when searching for a new salon:
Pay close attention to the energy the moment you walk in.
How are you acknowledged?
How does the first response feel when you ask a question?
Do you feel seen… or rushed?
These early moments are incredibly revealing — yet often dismissed.
Almost always, when someone reflects on a haircut that felt “okay but not great,” the experience mirrors the energy of those first few minutes.

The Outcome
My guest chose the salon that was my second preference — which is a perfect example of why the final decision should always belong to the individual.
She felt a little unsure immediately after the haircut, which is understandable. Once she washed and styled her hair herself — something she is very capable of — the cut revealed its true quality.
Since then, she’s been genuinely happy with how her hair sits and how manageable it is day to day. And that, for her, was the most important outcome.

What I Look For When Aligning You With a Salon
When someone books this consultation, there are specific things I need to understand:
What matters most to you — relationship, reputation, or results?
How important is manageability?
Do you value how a stylist makes you feel over technical perfection?
Or is the cut itself the non-negotiable?
Some women stay with a stylist for years because they love the person, even if the haircut isn’t exceptional — and that’s perfectly valid.
Others are drawn to well-known salons with strong reputations, even if compromise is involved.
But the most challenging — and rewarding — match is when the priority is hair that performs beautifully at home. This is where true technical skill matters most — and where my experience allows me to go deeper and more precisely in matching stylist to guest.

If you’re searching for a new hair salon — whether you’ve moved, evolved, or simply feel ready for something new — this service exists to guide you thoughtfully, honestly, and with your best interests at heart.
